Supply Chain ManagementQuestion: What are the responsibilities of a Supply Chain Management professional?

Answer: The responsibilities of the Supply Chain Management professional are to keep the chain of supply flowing both internal to the company and external.  Internal supply can be the availability of the right material, at the right time and in the correct quantity when needed by productions.  External responsibilities may include insuring the company’s suppliers are able to support the efforts of the company.  This is done by auditing suppliers periodically.  Reviewing the processes and procedures the supplier has in place and also making sure these processes are in line with the organization’s goals.   Also to understand the financial position of the supplier and ensure they are capable of withstanding any changes in demand or requirements.
